Parish Barbecue

On Saturday 30 August about 120 parishoners of all ages from babies to those who prefer not to declare their age gathered at Cooke-Instonians Sports clubhouse for a Parish Barbecue.

As people arrived tables were already providing services to those who wished to have their nails brightened up or faces disguised. As the rain cleared others moved outdoors to the bouncy castle where each age group had a turn. Guide training came into use with the running of races. Another indoor activity was the construction of kites which then performed well in the brisk breeze outdoors.

Then it was time for the food and burgers, sausages, chicken, chips and salads went down well with all ages. The deserts went down a treat.

The evening concluded with a table quiz - it was definitely an advantage to have all ages in a team as questions ranged from nursery rhymes to Shakespeare, pictures and general knowledge.

All present thoroughly enjoyed their evening and many this should the first of many such events.

Thanks are due to the organising committee for this success.
