The Annual Outing of the Church of Ireland Men’s Society was a visit to Dublin by train on Saturday 1 June 2013. Seven members of St John's Men's Society were among the 35 members who travelled on the  8 am "Enterprise" train. Bishop Poyntz and Dr Evans' nephew Richard joined us in Dublin..

On arrival at Dublin Connolly members hurried around to catch the DART to Dublin Pearse. From there they walked to St Ann's in Dawson Street to be welcomed by the Rector, the Revd David Gillespie. After a celebration of Holy Communion members were told  about the history of St Ann's and some of the well known people who had attended there over the years.

From St Ann's they then walked the short distance to Bewley's in Grafton Street for lunch - soup, sandwiches and tea / coffee.

After lunch a short walk took members to the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in

From the RCSI members then had a liesurely stroll down Grafton Street or Dawson Street to Trinity College. There was time en route to stop off for a cup of coffee, enjoy an ice-cream or simply enjoy the many street artists.

On arrival at Trinity College members were met by our guide Joseph O'Gorman at the steps of the Dining Hall  where he gave us an interesting history of the College. He then brought us into the College Chapel followed by a walk through the College.

A further short walk took us to Ely Brasserie for our evening meal befor returning home.
