  Dedication of Seat at Columbarium

The late Dorothy Dowey left a sum of money to St John's Mothers' Union to be used as they wished. Half was sent to be used for Mothers' Union projects overseas. After much thought Mothers' Union decided to purchase a seat to be used by relatives and friends visiting the Columbarium. It was decided that a location overlooking the Columbarium would be suitable as it was south facing. The area needed to be paved and the cost of this was covered by a generous donation together with smaller amounts from a number of Mothers' Union members.
The finished area was dedicated by the Rector on Sunday 12 August 2012 immediately after the 10am Eucharist. In the picture (top left) are Dorothy Dowey's daughters Mary and Elizabeth (seated) with the Revd Robert Jones, Rosemary Macartney (Mothers' Union Branch Chairman) and Revd Violet Johnston. Also present were a number of relatives of those whose ashes had been interred in the Columbarium.
