On the Feast Day of St Matthew, Friday 21 September 2012, our former Rector in St John's, Malone, Archbishop Alan Harper celebrated his Farewell Eucharist in St Patrick's Cathedral, Armagh and gave the address. The First Reading was read by his wife Helen and the Anthem was sung by their daughters Catherine and Emma accompanied by Anne on the Clarinet and Emma's husband James Grossmith on the organ.

Afterwards in the Synod Hall Armagh Diocese presented him with a painting of "Swans on the Lagan" by Tom Carr whom he knew when Rector of St John's. He also received two table lamps and a cheque from the diocese and "The Annals of Ulster" from the Representative Body.
