Harvest Thanksgiving 2008

The preacher at the Harvest Thanksgiving Eucharist was the Venerable Stephen McBride, Archdeacon of Connor,  who told of the visit by representatives of the Diocese of Connor to Zambia.

Following the Service parishoners gathered for a Lunch which had been organised to raise money for two causes:

- the Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation (the Specialised Surgery and Rehabilitation hospital being supported by St John's since the visit there by a party from the parish visiting the Holy Land (more:  http://www.basr.org )

- Age Concern Northern Ireland, as part of its Great Sunday Lunch campaign backed by Jenny Bristow, asked groups to meet in  Church Halls for lunch, and to donate a sum per head to Age Concern. St John's hosted a lunch for 120 parishoners.( more... http://www.ageconcernni.org/great_sunday_lunch.htm )

The result from these and the evening Guide and Scout Service was a sum of £1300 to be divided between the two causes
